President 


Veronica is a returning Montana native who spent 21 years acquiring skills to bring home to the meeting, events and travel industry. Her formal hospitality training began when she was accepted as an apprentice student at a five-star resort in Oregon. This was the beginning of a 17 year career spanning six states in the Hotel/Resort industry where she worked up from Banquet Manager to Director of Food & Beverage, Director of Catering, Corporate Trouble Shooter, Sales Certification Trainer, and ultimately, General Manager.

A departure from the hotel world brought Veronica to Las Vegas where she served as a Sales Director for the largest Destination Management Company in the nation. This great experience added depth to her vision and provided her with an excellent opportunity to design, package and operate in the world’s largest volume destination company. She had the responsibility of overseeing the sales team, team management of logistics, vendor’s relations, and execution for corporate events for up to 7,000 people.

Investment partners found Veronica in Las Vegas and recruited her to develop and open a “bottom up” project for a hotel in the resort community of Big Sky, Montana. As fate would have it, her love of the industry and family ties brought her back to Montana. Upon completion of her two year contract, Veronica started consulting to test the waters for staying in her home state; this brought her to Ed Schmidt, owner of a local travel company. Ed had celebrated some success in starting a meeting division in order to diversify his portfolio, but had no experience or resources to acquire experienced meeting and event personnel in his remote marketplace. The rest, as they say, is history as they joined forces. Veronica took the challenge to develop and grow the business and became the Managing Partner of Mountain Destinations, while also later forming A Meeting by Design.

Nine years of partnership has allowed them to achieve their dreams. Veronica’s passion for the industry has allowed them to realize their goals and continue to bring a proven team to the table with a spirit of “true grit”. Veronica is currently the President and leads the company with vision, creative energy and her determination to never accept good enough.

As the youngest of 10 children, mother of three sons, and a member of a combined family totaling six children, multi-tasking takes on new meaning. Veronica enjoys time with her extensive family, photography, dancing, hosting events as well as mentoring others.
